The Need for Change

About the Companies

Legislation and social responsibility demands that, individually and as a nation, we examine how our waste is managed. It is no longer acceptable, individually and collectively to conduct our lives and businesses without regard for the resources we exploit.

Connorco

Plastic Separation

Connorco is a revolutionary Plastics Recycling company. Its approach to plastic recycling alongside its multi-million pound processing plant is set to transform how plastic is recycled in the UK.

Established in 2008, Connorco Ltd is set to revolutionise how plastic is recycled in the UK. Once collected from the kerbside, virtually all plastic requires several further, often labour intensive, expensive processing steps before it can be re-introduced back into the manufacturing of products. In fact a large proportion of kerbside collected material is exported outside of the UK for further processing before it is ever utilised again in manufacturing.

Working in conjunction with Stirling Fibre, Connorco has developed a state of the art, innovative plastic separation plant in Sunderland. The Connorco process takes mixed plastic and not only segregates the various types / grades of material but also produces high value, single stream granulates. These granulates can then, without any further processing be re-introduced into the manufacturing process.

The applications in which the Connorco outputs are used are wide and varied but some common applications are-

  • Outdoor furniture – picnic / garden benches etc.
  • Fencing, walkways, gates etc.
  • Underground cable / duct protection covers
  • Signs
  • Packaging
  • Direct timber replacement – hoarding, sheets, posts, rails etc.

All of the above applications can and are being produced in the UK. The Connorco process provides a closed loop solution which enables the cycle of post consumer plastic materials to be collected, processed and ultimately manufactured back into product without the material ever having to leave the UK.

Material Recycling Facilities

In addition to its innovative plastic washing / processing line, Connorco Limited has developed a state of the art Material Recycling Facility at its site in Hendon, Sunderland. Through this facility and the successful reputation that Connorco and Stirling Fibre have established historically, Connorco is pleased to announce that it has been selected as the preferred partner to manage the City of Sunderland’s kerbside recycling waste.

This contract will involve Connorco accepting and processing circa 20,000 tonnes of dry recyclates from the City of Sunderland. Connorco, in conjunction with its partners Graphite Resources and Stirling Fibre, can offer a recycling rate in excess of 90% on this kerbside collected material as well as offering a closed loop recycling solution here in the UK.
